Hours after publishing my most recent article (excerpt and link follow), my gastroenterologist called to say he wanted to admit me to the hospital. I had messaged his office that morning with a status report that included a dangerous new weight: 99 pounds (44.9 kg). I’m back home today after spending 7 days at the hospital. I still have a lot of healing to do but am feeling better.
101* is not a good weight for me

I’ll have a lot to say about the hospital experience in my next post. But first, I wanted to highlight how our chickens are constantly helping us out by eagerly foraging for scraps. The hospital had served me up some Ensure with mega calories and added sugar. I do need to bulk up, but I’m afraid that Ensure made me want to never eat again. The chickens didn’t share that opinion.
